You can vote if you:
- are registered to vote in one of the ten Greater Manchester districts of Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford or Wigan
- are 18 or over on 2 May 2024
Please note that British citizens living overseas are not eligible to vote in these elections.
How to register to vote
You can register to vote if you are:
- a British citizen
- an Irish or EU citizen living in the UK
- a Commonwealth citizen who has permission to enter or stay in the UK, or who does not need permission
The deadline to register is Tuesday 16 April 2024.
You don’t have to register again if you’re already registered to vote at your current address. Being registered for other council services (for example, council tax) does not mean you’re registered to vote. If you have moved house since you last voted, you must register at your new address.
- Register online at gov.uk (external website). You will need your Date of Birth and National Insurance number.
- Or print out a paper form (external website). The paper form must be received by your local Electoral Registration Office by the deadline of Tuesday 16 April 2024.
